Strata to team up with Be to port StudioPro and VideoShop to BeOS!

21 April 99

Strata Division of C-3D Digital brings popular 3D and DV tools to the BeOS. Announced this month, Strata will now include the BeOS operating system in its new open development model, called DevNet3D. Strata and Be are teaming up to port StudioPro, its flagship 3D modeling, rendering, and animation package, to the BeOS operating system. Currently, StudioPro is only available for the Mac OS, Windows NT, and recently Windows 98. The program should be a prime candidate for running optimally under the fully multithreaded environment of the BeOS.

VideoShop, Strata's very popular and award-winning, nonlinear editing package is also being ported to the BeOS. Currently it runs only on the Mac OS. With support for QuickTime 3 and FireWire, and innovative features such as 3D Track and animated preview icons, VideoShop brings high-end capabilities at a reasonable price.

DevNet3D is Strata Division's new term for their open development model. Part of this model is to work with end-users and third-party developers to expand their core technologies and products. In addition, Strata is working with Spatial Technology to license their ACIS modeling kernel, the most advanced modeling engine in existence. Another element of this open development model is the long-awaited software development kit (SDK) for StudioPro.
