Reader Questions: Items from Architosh Forums

16 May 99.

A few posts on the Architosh Forums are important to bring to everyone's attention. First, reader Rick Norris, a civil engineer with over 10 years of AutoCAD experience, states his preference for working on the Mac and ask for advice in acquiring training in Mac CAD programs. Specifically, Rick is asking if anyone can point him in the right direction. He is looking for training on either MiniCAD (VectorWorks), PowerCADD and/or ArchiCAD in the Ontario area of Canada. If you can help, drop him a note at [email protected]

Another reader ([email protected]) is asking for advice on an unusual condition. Specifically, this reader would like to plot DWG files from the Mac side of his Mac (he has Virtual PC running) without the need for purchasing a Mac CAD program. Apparently, this reader does some AutoCAD work under Virtual PC on their Mac but cannot plot to a large-format plotter under Virtual PC because of a Windows driver restriction (or problem?). As there are many smaller programs that allow non-AutoCAD users to print AutoCAD files on the PC side, this reader is asking if any exist for the Mac side as well. Any assistance would be appreciated. Send him a note at [email protected]

If you reply to any of these items, please cc Architosh in your email as well or -- better yet -- post the solutions in the forums so that we can be informed and help others in the future. Thanks.
