Mac CAD News: Poll shows VectorWorks #2 for UK architects
Great Britain, United Kingdom (September 23,1999) -- The results of a recent poll in the United Kingdom have found Diehl Graphsoft's VectorWorks to be a growing favorite among architecture and building professionals in that country. The Architect's Journal, a weekly British architectural and building magazine, published the new poll results. The new VectorWorks ranked higher than industry giant, Bentley System's Triforma, and came in a close second only behind AutoCAD, as a preferred CAD software for 2D drafting and 3D modeling. The growing popularity of VectorWorks is further confirmed by a 60% increase in revenues in the United Kingdom since January of 1999. Diehl Graphsoft introduced the latest version of the venerable CAD program at the Macworld Expo San Francisco '99 conference, in January of this year.
This news arrives just a few short months after VectorWorks bested AutoCAD in another independent survey as the preferred CAD software among design professionals in Japan. Diehl Graphsoft CEO, Richard Diehl commented, "As the successor to MiniCAD, VectorWorks is proving itself to be a worthy opponent against the likes of AutoCAD and Triforma. Design professionals, both in the US and internationally, realize VectorWorks is a powerful CAD package that is a comparable yet cost-effective alternative to its expensive competitors." In addition to placing second in the areas of 2D drafting and 3D modeling, VectorWorks was among the top five in the visualization category. The survey, conducted by market research firm, Mirza and Nacey, was published in the August 1999 issue of The Architects' Journal.
VectorWorks is fast becoming one of the leading CAD software packages preferred by architects worldwide for its 2D and 3D power, industry integrated tools and affordable cross-platform licenses. A perennial favorite of Macintosh-based architects and AEC professionals, Diehl Graphsoft has made substantial inroads in the Windows platform CAD market since MiniCAD version 7. It is especially attractive to cross-platform users, Mac users with recent investments in Windows machines and former AutoCAD-based firms who have an interest in the power of Apple's latest G3 and G4 Power Macintosh workstations without abandoning their legacy Intel hardware.
