Architosh 2 Web Site Structure: Programming Preview
Below is a graphic that embodies the conceptual division of the upcoming Architosh 2 website and the relationships between the various elements of the program. We are sharing this programming preview with you so that you can respond with criticisms or suggestions:
The Digital Practice Guide: Invitation for IT Experts and Consultants in AEC At the heart of the present Architosh site is our listings of various Macintosh CAD, modeling, rendering and multimedia software, in addition to industry specific AEC software tools, design project tools and software tools of related value to Macintosh engineering and design professionals. This collective area will expand dramatically in Architosh 2 in both the number of software entries, categories and logical subdivisions and organizations. For instance, we will list every type of software tool capable of bringing your whole LAN on the Internet, or list every type of software used for office meeting management and scheduling. In essence, every facet of the "digital practice" will be covered, enabling you to begin planning and researching for developing the complete digital practice office. IT experts and AEC industry experts will be invited to answer specific technical questions of a common nature, in exchange for prominent listing as professional consultants for hire. For example, if you are an expert in computerized rendering services for AEC using form-Z or other software tools you can have a chance to be featured on the site by answering technical questions related to the subject that you have expert experience in. In each instance when a reader seeks advice on this very subject -- by drilling down in the site's FAQ's section -- they will arrive at the question that best approximates or matches their inquiry, with an answer written by an industry expert whom they can contact by email, URL links and traditional means via a list. Many of the Architosh 2 site's features are already in the present site, like links on ProMac sites, Mac OS X info, etc., and the Architosh Bookstore. Here are some new areas that readers who took our survey asked for: Architosh e-Store Expands to meet Reader's Request On our survey readers were asking to buy training materials, such as interactive CD-ROM's, QuickTime sites that offer training, books with CD's, and videos. We will be adding all of these so that you can master CAD, 3D, multimedia and web programs. Gallery Are you an artist as well as an architect, engineer, industrial designer, etc.? Is your spouse an artists? Your brother or sister? Friends? Chances are, if you are an architect, designer or creative technical professional you may be or know of someone who is an artist (painter, sculptor, folk artists, etc.) and this person may be looking to show and sell their art over the Internet. Our new Architosh Gallery will give you a chance to sell your art by having your very own 'virtual art gallery' -- complete with your name, simple URL tag, and choice of schema for your web art gallery. Best of all, it's completely free! Well, almost. We will charge a very small fee for each item sold, just enough to cover expenses for representing you. No percentages, no tricks, just plenty of exposure to other design professionals, architects and general Mac users looking to view and possibly purchase art over the Internet. With over 14,000 unique users reading our site, that's a huge potential base of possible buyers for your art. We will explain more later. (email us if you have questions). If you already have a gallery or know someone who does, we can lists their URL's as well as part of an extension program. Email us to learn more. Design News We will begin coverage of design news for the world of Architecture, Interiors, Industrial Design and other areas. Our survey showed that many of you are interested in industrial design, in particular, as well as architecture news. We will also expand our computer industry news as well, with hot links to numerous leading IT sites, like C/Net, ZDNet, and others. Design Schools Lastly, we will add separate categories for the AEC Lists, so that it is more useful to everyone involved. In addition, we will add design schools that support the Macintosh in a separate lists, including email links to directors of technology in universities that employee Macs in their design curriculum. Hey! Did We Forget Something? If we did, let us know. Send us an email with your thoughts. Thanks.
