Is DenebaCAD 2 your next cross-platform CAD solution?

30 Mar 00

DenebaCAD 2.0 receives high praises for its astounding 3D rendering and simple learning curve.

Deneba Systems Incorporated has put up more information on DenebaCAD 2.0 since we last looked at it, including rave industry reviews and user comments. DenebaCAD 2.0 was introduced back in September of last year and has slowly been taken on a falling. The program was simultaneously released for Windows 95/98, NT and Power Macintosh worldwide.

Reviews

Since its introduction, Macworld and MacAddict have released reviews of the product in their March 2000 issues. Macworld gave DenebaCAD 2.0 four and half mice -- a very favorable review. If you don't have the magazine you can read the Macworld review online. There is a very beautiful rendered view image online and in the mag that depicts DenebaCAD 2.0's rendering and lighting ability. This is captivating. As Charles Seiter comments for Macworld, "The 'point of sale' in architectural design is the moment when the client is suitably dazzled."

DenebaCAD 2's strength seems to be its low price for both architecturally specific 2D CAD work and high-end rendering. Unlike other Mac competitors costing up to $4000, DenebaCAD 2 is less than $800. And you can trade-up to it for as low as $329 (competitive upgrade) from programs such as VectorWorks and even ClarisCAD!

Macworld comments that DenebaCAD 2 has muscled it way into a market where its "only real competitor is ArchiCAD, which costs five times as much."

MacAddict also had favorable things to say about the program and commented on its features nicely, including its ability to let you work in either Draft, Sculpt or Render mode simultaneously, with updates represented in each view. DenebaCAD even automatically organizes all view types in windows that don't overlap, much like many high-end programs like Microstation.
