MacCAD News: Eddy award-winner Vellum Solids Triumphs Rivals
Ashlar Incorporated's Vellum Solids triumphs over rival CAD products in the latest issue of Desktop Engineering (March 2000, p. 14-21). Joe Greco published the results of his blending and filleting challenge. He tested 3D modelers based on 15 specific criteria and Vellum Solids clearly outperformed all of the competitors, including MS bedfellow Autodesk (Inventor 2) and SolidWorks 2000. Vellum Solids is a Macintosh and Windows (cross-platform) CAD/3D modeling product that has consistently won the hearts of the mechanical and industrial design crowd. It is great to see a product with deep Macintosh roots outperform a field of PC-only software -- indicative of the value of technologies that are employed in products that use Macintosh technologies and open industry standards like OpenGL.
