News Alert! Architosh Members got illegally SPAM'd

24 Apr 00

SPECIAL REPORT: Yahoo member used site illegally to generate spam emails.

To all of the members of the AEC pros Architosh list please except our apologies for the unfortunate and unanticipated, illegal and TOTALLY unauthorized use of our list and your privacy. We are taking full legal action against this act, as this individual or company has clearly broken the law by asserting themselves as our identity.

Architosh never authorized any use of our list. This list was obviously hand copied or retrieved by Web robots (software that searches Web site pages and search engines for email addresses) -- something most Web users are aware of. However, this particular act went a bit too far by stating that they were authorized to use these email addresses. We would never authorize the use of the list for any reason, period. The intentions of the list are clear on the page.

What Next?

Our first job is to notify and explain this act to you (especially list members). Next we are going to try to contact these individuals who sent the SPAM mails and warn them of this illegal activity. After that we are going to contact our state attorney general and a good Internet lawyer and learn what we can do about this clear abuse.

We have no idea why Architosh was chosen for this abuse, whether the site was hand picked or a matter of automation on the part of software scouting robots. Regardless, their email message falsified information about Architosh.

Any legal suggestions, advice or information regarding this act will be much appreciated. If you have any information that can help us identify the source of this SPAM, please let us know.

Thank you for supporting Architosh.

Our Best Regards,

Anthony Frausto-Robledo, B.Arch.
