MacCAD News: Australian DesignCAD 2D/3D for Macintosh
Recently Architosh came in contact with a previously unknown CAD product called DesignCAD 2D/3D for Macintosh. The product apparently is from Australia and available through specific channels there. However, trying to find any information on the Web about the product itself and the company that produces it (or used to produce it?) proved quite difficult. One source of the CAD product is Software Suppliers Pty Ltd. There website address for this product is http://www.softwaresuppliers.com.au/2226_dae6.htm. The brand name is ViaGrafix Software Division and the software comes on floppy diskette(s), an indication of how old the software is. DesignCAD 2D/3D for Mac is at version 3.1 -- a sign, somewhat, of a mature product. It is a complete and easy-to-use computer-aided design product which includes both 2D and 3D drawing tools with over 500 pre-drawn symbols. The product sells for $399 (Australian dollars). Who is using DesignCAD 2D/3D for Macintosh? Architosh would like to find out if any Mac users are still using this product, when they last purchased it and how they like it. This sounds like a very good low-end CAD product -- an area in the Mac CAD market which has seen a rise in both number of products and interest in products in this price range.
