Mac3D News: Two modeling books focused on 'architecture'

10 May 00

A couple of new architecture-oriented 3D modeling and visualization books have come to our attention and we wanted to share them with you.

The first book is by MIT architecture professor and department head William J. Mitchell and B.J. Novitski. Entitled Rendering Real and Imagined Buildings: The Art of Computer Modeling from the Palace of Kublai Khan to Le Corbusier's Villas, this book was published in January of 1999.

The other book, Digital Architecture, by Mohammed Saleh Uddin, was also published in 1999. This book has a four star rating at Amazon. Reader comments are excellent and the book focuses on explaining the software and hardware used to create some of the best digital architectural representation by some of the world's leading architecture firms. The books come with interative CD-ROMs for Macintosh and Windows.

What is nice about books like these is that they encompass different practices, techniques and computer hardware and software to accomplish fundamentally the same thing. In this light, they are invaluable tools for both technique and comparison of the means of exploiting this technology.
