Mac CAD/3D: Premier Home Architect for OS X

Abracadata has informed us of their plans for an all new pro-sumer line of architectural CAD/3D software, to be named Premier Home Architect, for both Mac and Windows.

PHA to Supersede 'Design Your Own Home Series'

Bryan Mumme of Abracadata has told us that Premier Home Architect is far superior to their existing home design products in the Design Your Own Home Suite. PHA is actually a product line with two different versions. Premier Home Architect will be the full featured version for serious use by carpenters, builders, 'HomeDepot-types', and remodelers of all variety. The product is likely suitable for education as well as a design-arts CAD program in middle and high school. Premier Home Architect Lite is a consumer-oriented product, "mainly for people that want to play more than create a serious design or remodel."

PHA Features / Made for OS X!

Premier Home Architect has been under development for awhile and is coming out ready for Mac OS X in the April time frame. It will be going to beta in March. A Windows version is planned for the summer.

Besides being native on OS X PHA has an extensive set of features. Some of the main features include a brand-new and proprietary OpenGL-based engine. Users will be able to place lights in 2d/3d space and set light properties. The program will also include the ability to print cost estimates based on your designs and will support both American Imperial, metric and Japanese units.

There will be DXF support, editable terrain modeling, multiple camera placement and position, associative dimensioning, and QuickTime 3D flyby support with full export to QuickTime movie control.
