Apple Expo - Announcements related to CAD/3D/AEC

Conference Session for Architects

A conference entitled, Architecture: New Tools and Techniques, is happening today at Apple Expo (5:30-7:00pm local Paris time). The conference is organized by the French Architects Union, UNSFA, in collaboration with the CSTB (the French national construction science research centre) and Groupe Moniteur, the leading provider of construction magazines and information in France. There will be a roundtable discussion about the impact of new tools on the profession, new ways of working and optimising professional practice.

Architosh Analysis: We are delighted to see a conference event about architecture at Apple Expo Paris. This event continues a trend of solid AEC vendor support at Apple Expo, the leading European Macintosh conference. We would love to see such an event put on at one of the Macworld Expo conferences. Traditionally the San Francisco show is the stronger event for AEC vendors.

Strong 3D Presence at Keynote - Richard Kerris Talks 3D on Mac OS X

During Jobs' keynote presentation, he called up Richard Kerris (formerely of SGI's Alias/Wavefront), the man responsible for bringing Maya to Mac OS X, and now Apple's Director of Developer Technologies. Richard highlighted the fact that 3D is exploding on the Mac, now thanks to OS X's UNIX foundation and advanced graphical user interface (GUI). Richard mentioned Maya 4.5 and Cinema 4D as some examples of the new progress being made with 3D on Mac OS X. To learn more about the Keynote go here.
