Our unfortunate circumstances with our Architosh Forums being down so long has led us to an unprecedented situation. While we have had technical troubles before with MacNN's hosting of our site, this particular situation has caused us to reconsider our hosting strategy (not necessarily our affiliation with the MacNN network).

Our Technical Issues

Our chief technical issue is really one of control or lack thereof. Because MacNN.com host our site we do not have any physical control over our server, despite the fact that it is actually close to us back here in Boston. When serious issues arise with either our site or the MacNN.com site or network, we call on folks associated with MacNN.com to solve problems. Their response time is varied and unpredictable.

Our current situation is one where these technical support people are not able to solve a serious flaw between our forums and the latest version of PHP.

A Better Approach

We are now actively seeking either volunteer or compensated technical help with both our current forums problem and future technical support. We are specifically interested in an individual(s) who can help troubleshoot and repair a badly damaged UBB forum setup with PHP interference.

Additionally, we are interested with individuals with solid Web hosting experience with Apache, mySQL, PHP, UBB or PHP-based forums, plus any other database or FileMaker experience being a plus.

In looking toward the future we are reconsidering our hosting situation and would be interested in talking to individuals who can help us with our Architosh-specific hosting needs. We would especially be interested in talking to folks who live and work in the greater Boston area or in Providence, Rhode Island, as we would prefer to have physical access to our site server and the ability to work on it ourselves.
