Strata3Dpro 3.9 Released

Strata has released an update for Strata3Dpro, called version 3.9. The new update includes new alpha channel masking capabilities, shadow casting optimizations in rendering that improve total render time by up to 37 percent, integration of the Photon engine into its Raydiosity rendering for improved realism, improved OpenGL support, new learning DVD training sessions, and new ready-to-use textures and shapes. LightWave at the Emmy's

Newtek Inc. has swept the Emmy's Awards again this year, winning a Primetime Emmy Award for Engineering, in addition to production wins for Special Visual Effects. NewTek received the 2003 Emmy Engineering Plaque for LightWave 3D, in recognition of the role of LightWave¨ has played in the creation of television visual effects. Georgia Architectural Firm Selects ArchiCAD

A. Vincent Pope & Associates has selected ArchiCAD after considering competitive products by Autodesk and Bentley. The firm provides visualization studies for its clients, making the ability to design and document work in 3D an important component of its offerings. The Georgia-based firm sought a software package that would empower its staff to create a virtual model of a building without adding complicated or unnecessary steps to the design process.

"We wanted a tool that enabled us to keep all building design and documentation in a single, fully integrated file, including large-scale projects, without hindering our work or adding cumbersome tasks to the design process. Revit seemed to be duplicating what ArchiCAD could already do and was difficult to use for large designs," said Anthony Pope, president, A. Vincent Pope & Associates. "Other programs like Microstation forced you through repetitious, time consuming steps that muddled our design and documentation processes. With ArchiCAD's Virtual Building model, we can focus on our designs without having to constantly move back and forth between files."
