NewTek has a holiday treat for all digital artists, their Sixth Edition of their Free Texture Collection is now available.

Sixth Free Texture Collection for 3D Artists

Set of 50 new images brings free resource for all digital artists to 300 high resolution textures. NewTek, the manufacturer of the award-winning LightWave 3D animation application, has announced this new free collection in time for the holiday season.

As with previous editions, this new set includes fifty high-resolution textures available for free download at NewTek.com. The total number of free textures available from NewTek is now at 300. The sixth edition of the texture collection contains images in the categories Concrete, Nature, Soil, Stone and Wood, and most images in this latest set are at even higher pixel resolutions than NewTek's first five sets.

I'm glad to see NewTek continuing to provide such great resources, like all these high resolution textures, to the community," said Layne Smith, Graphics and Multimedia Director at The Dallas Morning News. All textures are unretouched photographic images. The first 250 in the collection offer a resolution of 1600 pixels x 1200 pixels resolution. For the sixth set, most are at a resolution of 2304 x 1728, with a few images at lower resolutions. The textures are provided in JPEG format, for efficient download. The first five editions of the texture collection have been overwhelmingly popular, with tens of thousands of downloads since they were originally posted. NewTek plans to release additional sets of high-resolution textures from time to time and participants can sign up for notification of the release of new sets.
