ACM SIGGRAPH Los Angeles Chapter News
An upcoming event titled: The Process of Making Great Video Games
is coming February 8, 2005. Presenters from Pandemic Studios, Shiny
Entertainment and Electronic Arts will be discussing the latest
in the art and science of game development. This is a must see event
for 3d artists interested in game development.

Strata Training Coming to New York City
David Winslow will be instructing a course in Strata 3D CX for
3d users interested in Strata applications, including sharing his
extensive knowledge on topics such as: planning for 3d, project
management, animation, and common mistakes to avoid. There will
be an emphasis on modeling, texturing, lighting, and correct organization
of 3d objects and scenes.

Canvas and VersaCAD 2005 for Mac OS X
Lachmi Khemlani, Ph.D. has written about two Mac OS X CAD and drawing
applications in her AECbytes newsletter online. Canvas is now owned
by ACD Systems and is a longtime stalwart of the technical drawing
market. The Mac OS X screenshots of Canvas look very good. Check
it out here.
CADWire Analyst Dismiss Architrion News
Dr. Joel Orr of Cyon Research has written a brief
commentary about Architrion coming back with its recent Mac
OS X announcement. Noting that Architrion was once a strong 3D CAD
contender he contends that the product never caught on in the US
because it wasn't localized enough and remained too French or Euro-centric.
Interesting TidBit - Former Macintosh Developer Bentley Uses
Apple PowerBook in Negative Autocad Web Ad
As is so common and yet so frustrating to many Mac users, a PC-only
company -- namely one that many Mac CAD users would like to see
come back to the Mac -- has used an Apple PowerBook in a negative
Autocad ad targeted at rival Autodesk.

is where it points to.

The use of Apple products in software advertising for companies
that don't actually support Apple Mac platform products is amazingly
high. It is a very common sight to see. These companies have no
problem benefiting from Apple's sex appeal yet have no meaningful
relationship to Apple or its customers. To many Mac users it is
both flattering and offensive.
