Apple to host special presentation at American Institute of Architects (AIA) National Convention

Apple to host special presentation and reception at Mandalay Bay Hotel, Las Vegas during the AIA National Convention

During the National AIA Convention, May 19 - 21, 2005, Apple and various co-hosts, will be putting together a special presentation for architects and other AEC professionals attending the convention and design exposition. The AIA National Convention brings together more than 20,000 architects and industry professionals from throughout the country. Although Apple will not have a booth on the show floor, the company will be hosting a reception and presentation at the Mandalay Bay Hotel.

The event website reads "discover how Apple technology, combined with world-class software, delivers unprecedented power, cross-platform compatibility, and uncompromising stability. Explore the range of powerful architecture solutions for the Mac -- everything from CAD and building information modeling to 3D modeling and larger format printing."

The event is co-hosted by: ArchiCAD 9 maker, Graphisoft; form-Z maker, auto-des-sys, Inc.; large format printer maker, HP; SketchUp makers, @Last Software; and VectorWorks ARCHITECT maker, Nemetschek North America.

Apple will have the latest hardware on hand for those architects who want to check it out, featuring the new powerful dual G5 based Power Macs, new 30-inch Apple Cinema Displays, and Apple PowerBooks. Apple will also be featuring Tiger.

Architosh Analysis: Apple Computer hasn't been in attendance at a national AIA convention in quite some time (it has been since the mid 90's) and so this special presentation marks a significant point for the company, despite its low-key nature, and despite the fact that the company doesn't have a booth on the show floor. Apple is making small but forward-moving steps into a market it once had a major presence in: the US architecture market.

Despite the company's missteps throughout the 90's, Apple has done better in the architecture market outside of North America. In particular the company has continued to be a dominant force in AEC in specific countries throughout Europe. For this event, Apple is calling in European assistance. Jacques Sedille, from Apple Pro Markets in Europe, will be giving the feature presentation for the event.

For those attending the AIA Convention we strongly encourage you to sign up for this limited seating presentation and reception. It will be very exciting to see Apple front and center in the US architecture market again.
