ArchiCAD-maker, Graphisoft of Hungary, is the recipient
of the 2006 Constructech Hottest Company Award. This award
recognizes Graphisoft's Virtual Construction™ solution
as the first commercially available application that integrates

VersaCAD News
Archway System's latest newsletter mentioned a very positive
review of VersaCAD in Machine Design magazine. The article
subtitle reads: Design and draft on
Macintosh computers.

say that their Universal version is coming along well and
should be available soon. A key issue for Universal CAD applications
is the Open Design Alliance's DWG/DXF translation engines.
The newsletter mentions the Alliance telling Archway their
engine should be ready soon.

Strata
News
Strata's new products include Strata 3D CX 5.0, the new
Strata Foto 3D, and the new Strata Live 3D. Architosh
hopefully will be reviewing some of these apps in the near
future.
Strata Foto 3D is a new challenger to Abvent's
PhotoCAD and Realviz's
ImageModeler. (see

Strata 3D CX 5.0 is the latest version of the Strata's
flagship application. It not only comes at a lower price point but
has become easier to use and more familiar to Adobe customers.
In fact the tool has been reshaped over the years to be targeted
at designers, illustrators and mixed media professionals.
Strata 3D CX has a complete Adobe-like history palette providing
users with flexible and multiple undo capabilities. Although
Strata has moved towards mixed media 3D the program still
produces excellent industrial and architectural results,
as this tower
example shows.
Strata 3D Live is a subset focused version of Strata aimed
at the generation of real-time 3D content for the Web. Based
on Java, Live 3D content requires no plugins to run and works
on virtually any machine. Strata 3D Live features animation
and scripting capabilities to fully control your scene. To

Yesterday LightWave
3D version 9 was made available by NewTek,
which will be hosting a coming
out party for the new version
tomorrow, July 15, in Los Angeles. The company will be at
SIGGRAPH in Boston later in the month.
