Cheetah 3D 3.5
Cheetah 3D 3.5 has been available since last week. This
.5 release is a major bug fix release with some key improvements
made under the hood. The Cheetah 3D file format (.jas) has
been improved and extended, enabling smaller file size for
files with animation. Additionally, there is a new "Cheetah3D:
For Beginners" tutorial DVD available for purchase. Learn

Quidam 1.09 for Intel
N-sided earlier this month updated its character modeling
application to version 1.09 and it now supports Intel-based
Macs (Universal Mac Binary). New features include support
for the new Maya 8, better file name support with extended
characters, and improvements to the rendering, texture studio

groBoto
2.0
groBoto 2.0 is
a tool that we recently discovered that seriously merits
some attention. It is currently in final beta and
was suppose to be ready by mid-October. groBoto is an organic
animation system which enables the creation of complex, algorithmic
forms into intelligent life bots which you can animation
to life. Think of those horrible killing machines in the
Matrix! You have to see some of the examples to fully appreciate
this
application and the implications of it as a creative tool
seem fascinating.

groBoto 2.0 enables 3d texturing, environmental cameras
and lights and animation. You can export 3d objects in different
file formats such as OBJ. At one time the company had an
OS 9 version, but now the program only runs in Mac OS X and

BIM Symposium Reports

the Center for Building Science & Performance 2006 Symposium
titled BIM: Influencing Building Envelope Design & Performance
in Washington DC last week. Architosh will be reporting
