A listing of CAD and 3D Companies at Macworld Expo SF 2007

It seems every year there is some level of dissappointment as to the number of companies that could be at this show and are not. This year is no different. However, there are several new companies showing off new or new to the Mac platform products. One such company is Punch Software with its consumer line of home design CAD products. On the professional front some familiar older names (auto-des-sys and Nemetschek North America) are here as well as new companies like Luxology and the newly reformed IMSI/Design. Here is the list thus far. I've included both Vertus and Ambient Design, both makers of Adobe Photoshop plugins useful to 3D rendering and visualization.

• 3Dconnexion, Inc. - [booth N4014-21] This company will likely be showing off a brand new product for the Macintosh 3D CAD and animation market. In fact they are, but we can't talk about it yet. It is a very exciting product and we look forward to seeing it.
• Adobe - [booth S901]. Adobe's Acrobat 3D will be in their booth for those interested in this exciting application.
• Ambient Design - [booth S1338-24] Texture Anarchy 1.0 is a new and exciting plugin program for Adobe Photoshop that enables you to create and manipulate procedural textures used in 3D rendering programs.
• auto-des-sys, Inc.- [booth S2120]. The form.Z folks.
• BeLight Software - [booth S2715]. A new product called Live Interior 3D is being shown at Macworld Expo. We have no other details than what is available on their website.

• Toon Boom Animation, Inc. [booth N4014-10] Emmy award winning animation software suite.
• Vertus Technology [booth S2716] Innovative Adobe Photoshop plugin for masking images, useful for 3D rendering backgrounds, foreground isolation, et cetera.

New Products and Services at Macworld 2007

Two hot new companies this year at Macworld Expo are Parallels and VMware, both makers of virtualization software solutions. This means Windows and Linux running at near-full speed alongside Mac OS X.

Stalwarts like FileMaker and AEC software, both very useful to design pros, will be there at Expo of course.

Other interesting companies listed below include Qnext, a cool P2P (peer-to-peer) suite of communication/collaboration tools and Zimba.

And people interested in making beautiful portfolios showcasing their creative magic should strongly consider looking at Blurb. There is also openMFG, a key ERP suite of tools for Mac OS X, Linux and Windows.
