Adobe Announces Availability of Acrobat 3D version 8,
still no version for Mac OS X. Adobe Targets Manufacturing

with Acrobat 3D.
Adobe Systems Inc. has
announced today that they are shipping Adobe Acrobat 3D Version
8 software, a major upgrade to the
desktop application driving document-based 3D design collaboration
and CAD data interoperability. The Internet's de facto document
exchange format, Adobe PDF, has advanced itself into a full
3D capable system of data exchange, interaction, and interoperability
for enterprise-scale manufacturing organizations.

highly suitable to the AEC industry, Adobe's initial push
with Acrobat 3D remains squarely centered on the manufacturing
industry, with major customers such as Caterpillar, John
Deere and Eaton Corporation, this partly explains the company's
focus on Windows. Regardless, large architecture firms such
as SOM and HNTB Architecture are among the organizations
working with pre-release versions. |
