Vellum Solids '99 beta Update Information

4 Apr 99.

Vellum Solids '99 is currently being beta tested (which is open to all Priority 1 customers who have office email) and going well. The update will include an impressive list of new features such as:

ACIS 5.0 (modeling kernel by Spatial Technologies) featuring tolerant modeling, enhanced healing technology, new blending functionality and over 400 customer requested enhancements.

Integrated drawing composition capabilities: includes the creation of 2D drawings with auxiliary, section and detail views and bi-directional associativity.

Assembly modeling tools: allows you to connect, mate, align, insert and create associative assemblies.

Deformable surfaces capability: includes the ability locally to deform a surface with a projected curved region.

Many dimensioning improvements.

ACIS 5.0, by Spatial Technologies, is the latest version of their industry leading 3D modeling engine (kernel) used in over 175 applications worldwide, with over 1.3 million application end-users. As a non-competing development partner, Spatial does not build end-user software applications for the CAD, CAM, AEC markets. There are over 43 CAD applications -- in various disciplines -- that use ACIS technology and five applications in AEC.

Macintosh applications that use Spatial Technologies' ACIS modeling technology include: form-Z, by auto-des-sys; Electric Image 3D Modeler, by Electric Image; and Vellum Solids, by Ashlar. TriForma and Microstation Modeler, by Bentley, are ACIS-Compatible applications (read and/or write ACIS SAT Files).
