iMate: Griffin Tech. comments on Lombard USB implementation

21 June 99.

Over the weekend technical support staff from Griffin Technology Inc., the makers of the iMate USB to ADB adapter, wrote in to follow up on an earlier news report concerning their iMate USB adapter and its use on new Lombard PowerBook G3's. Here's what they had to say:

Hi,

We have tested the iMate USB to ADB adapter with the Architrion dongle and it works well. The only difference we have noted in the PowerBook G3 (Lombard) USB implementation is a small change in the ADB shim mechanism. This only effected one dongle that we know of and an iMate driver update has already been posted for this. All hardware protection dongles should continue to work with the PowerBooks (we have tested many including Architrion with success).

Best regards,

- Paul

In an earlier report, an Architosh reader wrote in to warn us of possibly poor USB implementation on the Lombard PowerBooks, as reported earlier by O'Grady's PowerPage. This reader was particularly interested in possible conflicts with the Architrion CAD program and ADB dongle issues. If you have any such conflict issues using Architrion on USB Macs, not just the new Lombard PowerBooks, send in a note. Thanks.
