Spatial advances enterprise-wide access to 3D SAT models

24 Sep 99.

Spatial has just rolled out a new version of the ACIS 3D Open Viewer release 5.2. This latest release further advances the enterprise-wide viewing of 3D models by letting anyone with a PC quickly view, manipulate, and use ACIS SAT files. Users can simply embed into a Microsoft Office document a model created in applications fueled by ACIS 1.6 to 5.2-now totaling over 200 applications. No specialized CAD software, training, or tools are required! Also, the new ACIS Viewer 5.2 enhances the file viewing experience by supporting 256 color displays and improving texture support.

And for ACIS Licensees - Expanded Plug-In Capabilities With Release 5.2, Spatial offers ACIS licensees an ACIS Viewer Development Kit for creating custom plug-ins. The Development Kit features plug-in architecture and an improved interface for quickly adding custom functionality to the ACIS Viewer. For example, licensees can create a custom button to replace the FileOpen dialog, which would streamline the process of accessing files from a data repository, PDM system, or specialized application. The same improved interface also enables customized access to a licensee's own file format.

For more information, or to download a free copy of the ACIS Viewer 5.2, go to http://www.spatial.com/Products/Viewer/viewer.htm

Spatial's 3D modeling kernels are at the foundation of leading Macintosh 3D and CAD software, such as VellumSolids, form-Z, and Electric Image Modeler, among others.
