iMac News: iTView-DV video mirroring for iMac-DV's

15 Oct 99.

WILMINGTON, Mass. --- Oct 5, 1999. A news story on InfoSeek explains Apple's recent purchase (to resell) of FOCUS Enhancements ITView-DV, developed for the new Apple iMac's with DV.

The ITView-DV is a new video conversion product designed to support simultaneous mirroring of Apple's new iMac DV and iMac DV-SE. The product is based on the proprietary FS400 (tm) digital video coprocessor and is an external video scan converter that allows the new iMac's screen to be mirrored on a television set or TV monitor. The iTView-DV is the only product available with a software interface allowing direct communication between the iTView-DV and the iMac DV to support device configuration and mouse controlled pan and zooming abilities.

This technology effectively makes the new Apple iMac-DV editions great presentation devices (remember iMacs have handles for mobility and are small in general) for education, business and design customers that provide precise video display control from the desktop on a television. This means students can record their computer-based class work on tapes and bring it with them to school and educators can more easily produce educational solutions on taped playback devices (VCRs). In addition, the new device can be used for large screen TV display of DVD movies and entertainment games.

Affordably priced at $139 US, the iTView-DV delivers features normally found in high-end video conversion devices costing substantially more. To learn more click here.
