Mac3D: LightWorks rendering used by 750,000 users

A reader just pointed this out to us. Following the Siggraph show LightWork Design has announced that there are over 750,000 users of LightWorks technology worldwide, reinforcing the product's position as the leading rendering technology in the industry.

As LightWork Design continues to work in partnership with customers in order to offer the solution to their rendering requirements, the realization of 3�4 million users is symbolic of the successes already achieved in fulfilling this aim.� The recent release of LightWorks�, version 6.0, was well received by this growing customer base as it enhances the product yet further, provides epitomized performance and builds upon the existing strengths and advantages already offered by LightWorks

LightWorks Important Technology to the Mac

The LightWorks rendering kernel (API') are at the core of a number of leading 3D and CAD products serving the Macintosh market, including the number one Macintosh CAD product VectorWorks (formerly MiniCAD) and the leading architectural modeler, FormZ.

But it doesn't stop there. LightWorks is used by many other Macintosh applications, including all of the CAD and modeling apps by Ashlar Inc. (such as the Vellum line of products as well as their new line of software). Gestel also uses it to product the industrial design 3D modeling design product called solidThinking.

On the PC side key applications that Mac users have wanted use LightWorks as well, including Parametric Technology Corporation's ProEngineer (aka ProE) and SolidWorks from Dassault.
