MacCAD: BOA attracts high school and "silver" crowd

Architosh has been informed of some recent trends happening with BOA CAD software by BOA Research. Not only has the software caught the attention of respected industry analyst Jerry Laiserin, FAIA, of Architectural Record and Cadence magazines but continues to impress the high school sector:

We have been contacted by five or six high schools and two are close to starting to teach BOA after a grueling test of everything that is out there, in one case replacing VectorWorks. -- Nader Family, CEO BOA Research

In a related article Laiserin mentioned that BOA, despite its very small team of developers, has outdone the much ballyhooed Revit in terms of ease of use and 3D navigation.

Silver Crowd

It is understandable then why the so called "silver" crowd might be attracted to BOA. Nader remarks:

The second trend is the attraction of BOA to the silver crowd. Those who have not had any fear of CAD from day one and are about to retire, are jumping on BOA as the next best toy since their childhood. -- Nader Family, CEO BOA Research

Such users, with a lifetime of real life experiences and knowledge, are finding BOA one the first truly enjoyable computer-based products.

Architosh Analysis: The mention of BOA in the press (beyond this site) is finally rising, though the application was critically missed in the recent Architectural Record feature on architects practicing on Macintosh computers. Not only is the application cross platform, it is built principally with the Macintosh in mind, developed on the Mac for the Mac. In fact, its next major Mac version will only run under Mac OS X.
