MacCAD News: VectorWorks ARCHITECT v.1.0.1 update

Diehl Graphsoft today updated their new add-on product, VectorWorks ARCHITECT, at the AIA Convention in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. There press release reads:

Philadelphia, Pennsylvania (May 4, 2000)Diehl Graphsoft today announced the release of VectorWorks ARCHITECT 1.0.1, the first update for the company's initial market-specific add-on, here at the AIA Convention. ARCHITECT is enjoying robust sales in its first five months in the AEC marketplace. Offering significant bug fixes and enhancements, ARCHITECT 1.0.1 affords users improved flexibility and productivity. The updater is presently available for free download from the company website, www.diehlgraphsoft.com.

Robert Anderson, Vice President of the Integrated Products Group says users will realize improved functionality with ARCHITECT 1.0.1. "We have tried to incorporate as many user requests as possible to establish a new level of functionality without sacrificing stability. This maintenance release further increases the power of ARCHITECT."

Some of the fixes provided by ARCHITECT 1.0.1:

VA SETUP:

  • Allows the user to use drawing border symbols, which can be user-modified
  • Allows the user to select between tiled and large format print options
  • Fixes a bug that differentially moved layer links in elevation and perspectives
  • Several small bug fixes

TASK MANAGER:

  • Tasks are now alphabetized for each sheet
  • Task Manager remembers the last sheet and task you requested
  • Edit Tasks now allows you to use any classes and layers that appear in a sheet
  • Several small bug fixes

ISSUE MANAGER:

  • Works with Drawing Border symbols as well as Plug-in Objects
  • Several small bug fixes

NOTES MANAGER:

  • Notes Placement tools use the active marker style, not just arrowheads
  • Several small bug fixes

WALL TYPES:

  • Added ability to use Vector fills (hatches) in wall cavities
  • Several small bug fixes

OBJECTS AND LIBRARIES:

  • Graphic PDF library catalogs are now provided for the object libraries
  • A new object library, "00_Arch_Sheets.MCD" is provided which contains the user-modifiable drawing border symbols that Setup Assistant uses. These drawing borders conform to the new National CAD Standard
  • Counter Top object has an option to cut openings for sinks
  • Loci in Doors and Windows are now in the NonPlot class
  • Several small bug fixes

VectorWorks ARCHITECT is the first in a series of add-ons that the company will offer as specific industry solutions to the AEC in addition to several other markets. Plans for these additional vertical market products are currently in development and are expected to begin beta-testing in early fall
