SOM Takes Up SketchUp
Last week SketchUp maker @Last Software
had a major announcement
to share with the AEC community. The company scored a major
win with Skidmore, Owings &
Merrill LLP (SOM), one of America's
most prestigious and largest architecture firms in the country.
The deal means more than 900 SOM professionals worldwide
will take advantage of the powerful yet easy-to-use conceptual
modeling features of SketchUp, both at work and at home.
"Our company-wide implementation of SketchUp is certain
to further enhance our design capability", said Carl Galiotto,
FAIA, "as well as provide a software solution that offers
creative speed,

Akiko
Ashley Interview
Architosh's own Akiko Ashley, an associate editor,
has been interviewed on Radiosity.com. Her interview
piece centers on both the nature of the 3D business as well
as her company
Luminetik and its Alex
character.
Akiko says that Hollywood taughter her that
there is value in 3d studios having their own IP (intellectural
property) and hence the value of Alex, a character the
studio created prior
to any contracts or projects.
