A Macintosh Tradition Lives On: AltiVec and MP G4 Support!
Strata started as a Macintosh-only developer creating some of the
most exciting 3D tools in existence back in their early years (early
90's). When Studio Pro hit the scene Strata had some of the biggest
audiences at Macworld Expo's.
After a long quiet period following a merger and ownership change
Strata Studio Pro was stuck at the 2.5.3 version, a version that
was stable on the latest Mac operating system, but certainly not
taking advantage of the latest advances on the platform architecture.
New on the Macintosh platform (only) is AltiVec support for 128-bit,
vector-based processing (requires PowerPC G4 processors) as well
as general code refinements for rendering speed increases on both
the Mac and Windows version. Another addition on the Mac is the
removal of QuickDraw 3D code in lieu of OpenGL redraws. These are
just
some of the new features in Strata 3D Pro 3.0 which are not
found in Studio Pro.
And for MP G4 owners Strata 3D Pro 3.0 supports multiprocessing,
giving you 128-bit x 2 rendering power! Full
product specs are here.
Strata Studio Pro users can upgrade
to Strata 3D Pro 3.0 starting at $89US, an incredible value
for existing Studio Pro users. Upgrades for Strata Vision 3D and
Strata 3D users is $495US. Special prices for academic users.
For more information go to the Strata
3D Pro Web site.
