Most Macintosh CAD applications plot their data to common CAD plotters manufactured by companies such as Hewlett-Packard, EnCAD and Espon. Most of these Mac CAD apps can plot over a standard network either directly to an internal RIP or an external one as a box or product on a CPU. Common plotter printer languages supported include both PostScript and industry standard HP CAD languages such as HP-GL/2, etc.

For specific questions about a particular application's plotting requirements you should consult that software developer's information. For information from other users you can generally post and read feedback on technical discussion boards online, such as Nemetschek's VectorWorks boards. Or you can ask other users inside the Architosh online Forums which cover topics on CAD plotting.
