Editor's Note: Update on Site and upcoming features

What the Heck Happened?

As most of you know by now, the MacNN.com network went completely offline approximately eleven days ago, and with it Architosh. In total we were offline for seven long days.

Though MacNN web technicians say such downtime shall never happen again, we remain skeptical of all such statements, regardless of where they come from.

We especially would like to thank our Corporate Sponsors for their patience and understanding during this protracted outage, and our loyal readers for your continued support.

A Winter's Curse

Upon immediate commencement of the site's preferred status on Friday, I returned home to discover that I had protracted my children's' "bug du jour", or at least their weekly winter illness. Here in New England getting small children through the Winter without incident is like trying to surf a whole year with Internet Explorer without a crash. No matter what you do it ain't going to happen.

By Saturday evening it became apparent that this was no ordinary flu bug. So devilishly designed in its multi-phased attack I began to wonder if it wasn't the crafty work of some cyber-bio-terrorist "Dream Team" financed by Al Queda itself. With both my children and myself with 102+ temperatures over the weekend my home looked more like a MASH unit than the charming little Mac-infested domus it is.

Needless to say -- and thanks to AirPort technology -- as of Tuesday evening I am writing this from the semi comfort of my bed and whatever they put in Motrin. God bless the Motrin people!

Upcoming Items

February was supposed to be a dream month for Architosh, celebrating its third birthday and making some large announcements. All of this will happen, just not the way it was supposed to.

We have a whopping news update on a certain petition we have been running for quite some time now. We think the Mac community will be excited. We also have a special interview with the president of a major CAD vendor and someone this site has never interviewed before.

Additionally we have screen shots of what we think may be a killer 3D application for OS X (coming soon) for architects and a few product reviews. And last but not least we have a special story on MacMall and and its partnership with Architosh. And along those lines we will be looking for some critical feedback on the economic future of this site from you are readers.

Closing Thoughts

I am hoping to make the turn Tuesday night and if not will make it happen soon enough. I understand that Apple introduced QuickTime 6 Tuesday and there is some related visualization news to share in that domain. I have a stock pile of news items to cover and many emails to respond to so please be patient as I bear this nasty bug's full brutish front...and stay tuned THIS week for more news.
